Arnold Schwarzenegger has a newsletter.
Yeah. That Arnold Schwarzenegger.
So do Codie Sanchez, Scott Galloway, Colin & Samir, Shaan Puri, and Jay Shetty. And none of them are doing it for fun. They're doing it because a list you own compounds in ways that social media never will.

Good morning, Edmonton!
Today is one of those days where the news really does come from every direction, a local guilty plea that will have you raising an eyebrow, a massive oil giant betting billions on Alberta, and Ottawa opening the books this afternoon. Let us get into it.💛

Playing Cop Gets You in Court 🚔
A 35-year-old Edmonton man pleaded guilty Monday to impersonating an EPS officer after meeting a woman on a fetish website and convincing her he was the real thing.
Kyle Edmund Boozan used real police uniform equipment to sell the ruse. The original charge was breaking and entering to commit sexual assault but was amended before the early guilty plea
Boozan previously worked as a correctional officer at the Edmonton Remand Centre for four years and also served in the military
He has no prior criminal record. Sentencing is still ahead
Would you trust someone in a uniform a little differently after reading this?
Show the Money or Face the Judge 💰
Alberta's election commissioner is hauling the province's biggest independence group into Edmonton court, demanding to know exactly who is bankrolling the separation push.
Commissioner Paula Hale went to court Monday seeking an injunction to force the Alberta Prosperity Project to register as a third party advertiser and hand over donor records, invoices and advertising receipts for billboard, radio and TV spending
The group allegedly ignored repeated deadlines going back to February
First Nations groups already won a stay preventing referendum results from moving forward. This adds a second legal wall around the petition
Do you think referendum campaign groups should be required to disclose every dollar they spend? Tell us below.
87 Avenue Just Lost a Lane 🚧
Drivers heading through west Edmonton near West Edmonton Mall or Misericordia Hospital, your commute just changed.
Traffic shifts began Monday at 178 Street. More reductions start May 4 at 170 Street
87 Avenue is now down to one lane in each direction between 161 Street and Anthony Henday Drive
The disruptions run until the end of 2026 as Valley Line West enters its final year of road reconstruction
Build in extra time now so it does not catch you off guard.

Shell Just Bet Billions on Alberta 🛢️
Oil giant Shell has agreed to buy Canadian energy company ARC Resources in a deal worth over $16 billion, planting its flag firmly in the Alberta and BC Montney shale basin.
ARC produces around 370,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Shell says Canada is now a core part of its global strategy
ARC shareholders get a 20% premium on their share price, 75% in Shell stock and 25% in cash
The deal closes in the second half of 2026 pending regulatory and shareholder approvals
A foreign oil major going all in on Canadian energy while the Strait of Hormuz stays closed. The timing speaks for itself.
Ottawa Opens the Books This Afternoon 📊
Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne tables Canada's Spring Economic Update in the House of Commons today, and the early signals are better than expected.
The deficit is tracking well below the $78.3 billion projected in November, largely thanks to oil revenues and inflation. A smaller number is coming
New affordability measures expected include a GST benefit boost and a plan to waive the federal fuel excise tax until Labour Day
PM Carney also announced the Canada Strong Fund Monday, a $25 billion sovereign wealth fund targeting energy, critical minerals, agriculture and infrastructure investment
Today could put a little money back in your pocket. We are watching closely.

The Strait Stays Shut — Oil Hits $108 🌍
Peace talks between the US and Iran fell apart over the weekend and oil markets felt it immediately.
Trump canceled plans to send envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Pakistan for negotiations, effectively stalling the only active diplomatic channel
Iran responded with no ambiguity: the Strait of Hormuz will not return to its previous state under any circumstances
Brent crude closed Sunday at $108.23. Citi analysts warn it could hit $150 if disruptions stretch past June, Day 59 of the conflict
Every fill-up at the pump is part of this story now.
23 Children Taken From Nigerian Orphanage, 8 Still Missing 🌍
Gunmen stormed an orphanage in Lokoja, northern Nigeria on Sunday night and abducted 23 children in one of the most heartbreaking raids the region has seen this year.
Security forces responded quickly and rescued 15 of the children, but 8 kids and the proprietor's wife remain missing
No group has claimed responsibility though security sources say Kogi State has an active Boko Haram cell
Mass kidnappings remain a common tactic used by armed groups across northern Nigeria to extort ransom
Eight children still unaccounted for. Hold them in your thoughts today.

BET YOU DID NOT KNOW 🤔
Alberta is the only rat free province in Canada and has been since 1950, not by accident but by effort. The provincial government runs one of the most successful pest control programs in the world. Every year a team of inspectors patrols the 600 kilometre border with Saskatchewan and if a rat is spotted west of that line, the response is immediate.
We take a lot of pride in Alberta. Apparently we also take our rodent situation very seriously.
Drop a 🐀 in the comments if you had absolutely no idea this was a thing — most people don't.
