The Post-Workout Recovery Secret You’re Sleeping On

You’ve dialed in your workouts, nutrition, and hydration. But if progress still feels slow, there’s one recovery factor often overlooked: sleep.

Muscles repair and rebuild while you sleep. Less sleep means less time to recover.

If getting enough rest is a challenge, CBDistillery offers targeted support your sleep solutions.

Their gummies and tinctures combine non-intoxicating CBD with CBN, a cannabinoid commonly used to promote better sleep.

In a 2021 CBDistillery study, participants reported sleeping longer on average after using CBD and CBN together.

One Edmonton Councillor Has a Very Canadian Idea for a Street Sign

While separatism debates swirl at the legislature, one city councillor is fighting back with a street sign.

  • Councillor Michael Janz is submitting an application to rename the portion of 99th Avenue beside the Alberta legislature to Forever Canadian Avenue, right in the heart of the tourist stretch where school groups and visitors walk daily.

  • He says the looming spectre of separation is creating real economic uncertainty for Edmonton and the province, and wants a permanent, visible reminder of how many Albertans want to stay.

  • The Forever Canadian petition gathered over 400,000 verified signatures. The legislature still has not decided whether to put a separation question to a referendum this fall.

Would you walk down Forever Canadian Avenue? Tell us in the comments.

Edmonton Is Getting Its Own Piece of World Cup Fever This June

While the FIFA World Cup is heading to Toronto and Vancouver, Edmonton is not being left out.

  • Canada's men's national team will play a pre-tournament friendly against Uzbekistan on June 1 at Commonwealth Stadium, the first national team match in Edmonton since 2021.

  • That 2021 game against Mexico drew 44,212 fans in frigid conditions for a World Cup qualifier. This one comes with much better weather and a team headed to the actual tournament.

  • The June 1 match is expected to generate $21 million in economic impact for the city.

Canada Now Has a Confirmed Hantavirus Case. One of the High-Risk Nine Is from Alberta.

What was presumptive last week is now officially confirmed.

  • The Public Health Agency of Canada confirmed Sunday that the Yukon resident isolating in B.C. has tested positive for the Andes strain of hantavirus, linked to the MV Hondius cruise ship.

  • The patient's partner tested negative. A third traveller was moved to hospital as a precaution. Nine Canadians, including one Albertan, remain under high-risk monitoring.

  • The Andes strain can spread person to person, which is what makes it different. Public health officials say risk to the general public remains low.

China Told Canada's MPs to Stay Away From Taiwan. One Just Went Anyway.

Conservative MP Michael Chong made a deliberate point on Sunday, and China noticed.

  • Chong arrived in Taipei on Sunday despite a recent warning from China's ambassador that visits by Canadian parliamentarians would damage the new Canada-China strategic partnership announced after PM Carney met with President Xi.

  • China's embassy in Ottawa issued a formal condemnation calling the visit a wrong message supporting Taiwan independence.

  • Chong said Canada does not take direction from foreign governments about where its MPs can travel, adding that staying silent in the face of intimidation only emboldens authoritarianism.

Trump Is Telling Iran the Clock Has Run Out

The ceasefire that was already on life support just got a hard deadline.

  • President Trump posted Sunday warning Iran there will be nothing left of them if they do not move fast on a peace deal, his strongest language yet.

  • Reports from national security sources indicate Trump has discussed potential military strike timelines with advisors, with some scenarios as early as this coming weekend. No final decision has been made.

  • Brent crude remains elevated above $105 per barrel. A prolonged conflict keeps global oil prices high, which flows directly into Alberta energy revenues.

🌤️ Edmonton Weather - Monday May 18th

Edmonton is waking up to a clear and crisp Victoria Day with a high of around 16°C and mostly sunny skies. There is a 30 percent chance of afternoon showers, so if you are heading to a patio or a park, keep a light jacket handy just in case.

It's Monday. Every department already has context. Nobody prepped anything.

Your CFO opens Slack. There's a weekly Stripe revenue recap in #finance with a churned-accounts flag and a net-new breakdown. She didn't ask for it.

Your head of product opens Slack. There's a GitHub summary in private channel: PRs merged, PRs stale, Linear tickets that moved. He didn't ask for it.

Your marketing lead opens Slack. There's a Google Ads performance comparison in private channel, with a note: "Meta CPA crept up 18% this week. Might be worth pausing the broad match campaign." She didn't ask for it either.

All-hands at 10am. Everyone already knows the numbers. The meeting is about decisions, not catch-up.

That's what happens when one colleague works across every tool your company uses. Not one department's assistant. The whole company's coworker.
