The New Trick to Reducing Stress Without Losing Focus

Burnout and stress can make it hard to focus and keep up at work. That pressure builds, creating a cycle that’s tough to break.

If you’re looking for a way to ease workplace stress without feeling drowsy, try CBDistillery’s Daytime Calm gummies.

Each serving contains 50mg of CBG, a non-intoxicating compound derived from hemp, formulated to support calm and daytime focus.

In a 2022 CBDistillery study, CBG was associated with:

  • Increased focus and mental clarity

  • Reduced mild, temporary anxiety

Like all CBDistillery products, Daytime Calm gummies are third-party lab tested for quality and consistency.

Good morning, neighbour. 🎉

Thursday is starting wet across Edmonton and surrounding areas, with morning rain and temperatures around 11°C before the afternoon warms up and brings a chance of thunderstorms. Pull up a chair and grab your coffee because today's issue has stories that are going to stick with you. From hate graffiti near a Muslim daycare to a teacher's warning about the October referendum, this is one of those Thursdays when community matters more than ever.💛

💔 Hate Has No Place Near Our Kids

Edmonton police are investigating Islamophobic graffiti found near a Muslim daycare on the city's north side, and community fear is growing.

  • Mayor Andrew Knack called the incident completely unacceptable and the National Council of Canadian Muslims says it fits a wider pattern of hate, pointing to a recent attack on a Black Muslim man in St. Albert.

  • EPS has opened an investigation and the NCCM is calling for a stronger community response.

This is the kind of thing all of us have a role in speaking up against. What do you want to see the city do next? Hit reply.

The Referendum Just Walked Into the Classroom

The Alberta Teachers' Association is warning that the October referendum's immigration questions could block children from accessing public school in Edmonton and surrounding areas.

  • ATA president Jason Schilling says educators should not become de facto immigration authorities and that education is a fundamental right for all children.

  • Two of the October 19 ballot questions would allow the province to charge non-permanent residents school fees and limit access to social programs.

Do you think children should ever be turned away from a public school? Tell us what you think.

200,000 Signatures and the Door Might Still Be Closed

Premier Danielle Smith is suggesting it may be too late to add Corb Lund's Water Not Coal question to the October 19 referendum ballot.

  • Elections Alberta required all questions by June 1 to prepare for the vote and Lund delivered over 200,000 signatures after that deadline.

  • Lund says he is frustrated and fully expects his question to appear on the ballot verbatim.

Do you think 200,000 signatures should be enough to open the door, even now? Tap reply.

🚌 Edmonton's New Bus Garage Just Got a $15 Million Top Up

Edmonton city council is borrowing an extra $15 million for the new southeast transit garage, bringing the total project cost to $367 million.

  • The 500,000 square foot facility will serve both diesel and electric buses, though new fleet orders have not yet been placed.

  • A $291 million federal grant anchors the project and the extra borrowing covers capital commitments that came in under budget elsewhere.

Is Edmonton moving fast enough on transit? Hit reply and tell me.

A Canadian Mountie Threatened Trump on Snapchat. He Was Guarding the G7 at the Time.

A Quebec RCMP officer has been charged with uttering threats against U.S. President Donald Trump in a video posted on Snapchat while he was deployed to the G7 summit in Alberta.

  • Evenson Dumerlus, 34, of St-Jean-sur-Richelieu was removed from duty after a fellow officer flagged the video. He is due in court July 30.

  • The RCMP confirmed the investigation was handled internally before charges were laid.

You genuinely cannot make this up. What do you think should happen next?

📉 Canada Just Shrank for the Third Quarter in a Row

Statistics Canada says Canada lost 55,025 people in the first quarter of 2026, dropping to 41.4 million people as of April 1.

  • Permanent immigration fell 20 percent compared to Q1 2025, in line with the federal government's reduced targets.

  • Non-permanent residents dropped by more than 117,000 in the same period.

Today's story about the ATA referendum warning connects directly to these numbers. Does this trend concern you?

Three Years Later, Canada Finally Has Answers on the Titan

Canada's Transportation Safety Board has released its full investigation into the Titan submersible disaster, three years after the craft imploded on its way to the Titanic wreck.

  • The TSB found Transport Canada had zero oversight of the Titan despite knowing it operated from St. John's, and OceanGate's design did not follow standard engineering practices.

  • Six new regulatory recommendations have been issued for uncertified commercial vessels.

Five people lost their lives aboard a submarine no government was watching. Does that make you angry?
