Canada Just Told the World It Is Open for Oil Business, And Alberta Is at the Centre of It
While the Middle East burns and global energy markets spiral, Prime Minister Carney stepped onto the world stage this week with a message that landed right here in Alberta.
⚡ The Moment: PM Mark Carney formally positioned Canada as the world's most reliable and low-risk oil exporter this week, pledging to increase production as the Iran war continues choking off Persian Gulf supply routes.
The Strait of Hormuz remains effectively closed, sending oil buyers scrambling for stable alternatives
Canada's oil industry is currently at capacity, meaning production increases require new investment and infrastructure decisions now
Alberta's oil sands are suddenly the most talked about energy asset in the world
Carney's positioning puts Canada squarely in the middle of a generational energy opportunity
Do you think Alberta is ready to step up as the world's oil lifeline? And should we be expanding production right now? Tell us what you think.

You are not imagining it. The roads really are worse this year.
A new city report confirms Edmonton crews failed to meet their own standards for both pothole repairs and snow clearing in the last quarter of 2025, and the parks and roads department is now facing mounting pressure to explain why.
Response time targets for pothole repairs were missed consistently across multiple districts
Snow clearing standards were also not met during several key winter weather events
The department is facing staff shortages and equipment challenges heading into spring
Where in Edmonton have you hit the worst pothole this winter? Name the street and let us build a list the city cannot ignore. 😤

Put the Phone Down Alberta, Because That Fine Just Got a Lot More Painful
The province just made distracted driving the most expensive habit in Alberta.
Effective March 13 Alberta increased fines for distracted driving and a range of other traffic offences by up to 50%, the first fine increase since 2015.
Distracted driving now costs $325, that covers phone use, personal grooming and reading while driving
Careless driving, racing and stunting jumped from $567 to $852
Driving 50 km/h over the speed limit now costs $620, up from $495
The increases apply province wide, every driver in every community from Fort Saskatchewan to Leduc to Spruce Grove
Honest question, do higher fines actually change how people drive? Or do you think something else needs to change? Tell us below.
