The New Trick to Reducing Stress Without Losing Focus

Burnout and stress can make it hard to focus and keep up at work. That pressure builds, creating a cycle that’s tough to break.

If you’re looking for a way to ease workplace stress without feeling drowsy, try CBDistillery’s Daytime Calm gummies.

Good morning Edmonton and sister towns, Happy Monday! ☀️

A beautiful sunny Monday on the way with a high of 17°C, which is the kind of morning that makes it genuinely hard to stay inside. We have a lot going on today from McDavid making history again to the Elks opening the CFL season, a global situation that moved overnight, and Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final tonight. Grab your coffee and let us get into it.💛

PS: A special message for you in ‘Your Turn’ section, check it out.

McDavid Joins Gretzky in the Record Books

Connor McDavid just became one of only two players in NHL history to win the Ted Lindsay Award five times, putting him in a club that previously held only one name: Wayne Gretzky.

  • He finished the season with 138 points (48 goals, 90 assists), won his 6th Art Ross Trophy and became the third fastest player ever to reach 1,200 career points at just 784 games.

  • The Ted Lindsay Award is voted on entirely by NHL players themselves, making it one of the most meaningful honours in the game.

The full story is worth a read if you want the numbers that put this season in proper perspective.

The Elks Are Back and They Mean Business

The CFL is back, and the Edmonton Elks kicked off the 2026 season with a 29-21 road win over the Ottawa Redblacks on Saturday night, their first June win in six years.

  • Quarterback Fajardo completed 23 of 34 passes for 266 yards and a touchdown, while running back Rankin added a 61-yard TD run on 13 carries as the ground game took over.

  • Ottawa was flagged nine times for 100 yards in penalties, making life harder than it needed to be for the home side.

Global News has the full game breakdown if you want the details.

Most Albertans Are Not Happy With Smith

A new Ipsos poll finds 56% of Albertans disapprove of Danielle Smith as premier and 58% disapprove of how she is handling the separatism issue, with both sides of the debate saying she is playing for the other team.

  • Among decided voters, the UCP holds a narrow 48 to 45 lead over the NDP, with the rest still making up their minds heading into the fall referendum.

  • The poll found that Albertans who want to stay in Canada believe Smith is secretly pro-separation, while separation supporters believe she is just playing politics. She has managed to frustrate both camps at once.

The full Ipsos breakdown has a lot of numbers that paint a complicated picture for the UCP heading into October.

Vegas, Carolina and the Most Dramatic Game of the Final So Far

The Vegas Golden Knights turned one of the most dramatic Stanley Cup Final games in recent memory into a 5-4 double overtime win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday, taking a 2-1 series lead going into tonight's Game 4.

  • Mitch Marner scored the fastest hat trick in Stanley Cup Final history and added 4 points total, but Carolina rallied from 4-0 down with three goals in 39 seconds in the third, including a tying goal with the goalie pulled.

  • Shea Theodore ended it in double OT on a shot that bounced off the boards. Game 4 is tonight in Raleigh.

CBS Sports has the full recap for anyone who needs the complete picture before puck drop tonight.

🧠 A Hockey Legend's Final Gift to the Game

After the sudden passing of four-time Stanley Cup champion Claude Lemieux at 60, his family has donated his brain to Boston University's CTE Center, a decision researchers are calling a meaningful step forward for the sport.

  • CTE can only be diagnosed after death and has been confirmed in several former NHL players. Experts say it can cause severe depression and memory loss, and that each brain donated brings researchers closer to prevention and treatment.

  • Lemieux played nearly 1,500 games over 21 years and was remembered by the NHL Commissioner as one of hockey's greatest big-game players. His family authorized researchers to publish findings using his name.

Global News has the full story including what the experts say this kind of donation means for the next generation of players.

Iran Fires on Israel and the Ceasefire Is in Trouble

Iran launched a missile attack against Israel on Sunday, the first since the fragile US-brokered ceasefire took effect in April, putting peace negotiations that were already stalled in serious jeopardy.

  • The attack followed an Israeli strike on Beirut's southern suburbs. Iran's Revolutionary Guard warned that future responses will be broader, while Israel intercepted the missiles and struck back. Iraq and Syria closed their airspace.

  • Pakistan is attempting to mediate with Tehran. The strike is the first direct Iranian attack on Israel since April and signals how close the ceasefire is to collapsing entirely.
