✈️ An Air Canada Jet Just Collided With a Fire Truck at LaGuardia and Both Pilots Are Dead

A horrifying accident unfolded at New York's LaGuardia Airport today when an Air Canada regional jet collided with a fire truck on the runway during landing, killing both pilots and injuring 39 passengers.

  • The Air Canada Express flight was operated by Jazz Aviation and had just touched down when it struck the fire truck which was responding to a separate emergency on the runway

  • 39 passengers were taken to hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious, all are expected to survive

  • Transport Canada and the TSB have launched an urgent investigation alongside American aviation authorities

For Canadians who fly regularly this story hits very close to home. Our thoughts are with the families of both pilots.

Draisaitl Is Headed to Germany and Oilers Fans Are Holding Their Breath

Leon Draisaitl has travelled to Germany to receive specialist treatment for his lower body injury and is hoping to return in time for the Stanley Cup playoffs.

  • Draisaitl was injured in the first period of the Oilers vs Nashville game on March 15 and has not played since

  • He led the NHL in scoring with 99 points before the injury, his absence has been felt in every game since

  • The Oilers have not confirmed a timeline for his return but sources say the Germany trip is a positive sign

Playoff hockey without Draisaitl is a scary thought. Come back strong Leon! 💛🏒

St. Albert Is Leading Alberta in Saying No to Separation

St. Albert has emerged as the most passionate community in Alberta when it comes to the Forever Canadian petition, leading the entire province in signatures per capita.

  • The Forever Canadian petition calls on the federal government to protect Canadian unity and push back against separatist sentiment currently brewing in Alberta

  • St. Albert residents have signed at a rate significantly higher than any other Alberta community per capita

  • The petition has gathered tens of thousands of signatures province wide as the separation debate intensifies

Proud to be Canadian and proud to call this region home. St. Albert is making that very clear.

⛷️ Four People Dead in Two Separate BC Avalanches in One Horrifying Sunday

Two devastating avalanches struck northern BC on Sunday, claiming four lives in separate incidents just hours apart.

  • Three heli-skiers were killed on Mount Knauss just north of Terrace when a massive slide buried them before rescuers could reach them

  • A fourth person was killed in a separate avalanche near the BC and Alaska border later the same day

  • Nine people have now died in BC avalanches since December 2025, one of the deadliest seasons on record

If you are heading into any backcountry this spring please check avalanche.ca before you go. No adventure is worth your life.

Trump Just Blinked on Iran, And That Is Very Big News

In a dramatic shift, President Trump announced today he is extending his deadline for striking Iranian power plants and confirmed the US is now in direct talks with Iranian leadership.

  • Trump said he received a letter from Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei expressing a desire to negotiate

  • The extension gives diplomacy a chance but Trump warned military options remain firmly on the table if talks fail

  • Oil markets responded immediately with crude prices dipping slightly on hopes of a de-escalation

For Alberta's energy sector, every twist in this conflict moves markets. This one is worth watching very closely.

✈️ A Colombian Military Plane Carrying 125 People Crashed Shortly After Takeoff

A Colombian military transport plane carrying 125 people crashed shortly after takeoff from a base in southern Colombia today with the death toll still rising.

  • The plane went down near the city of Villavicencio in the Meta region shortly after departing a military airbase

  • Colombian authorities confirmed multiple fatalities with rescue teams still working to reach survivors in difficult terrain

  • The cause of the crash is under investigation, early reports suggest possible mechanical failure

A devastating day for Colombia and a sobering reminder of how quickly tragedy can strike.

Spinfinite Indoor Cycling & Fitness

From Accident to Action: How Personal Transformation Sparked Spinfinite's Mission

Sometimes life's most challenging moments become the catalyst for our greatest contributions. For Kaila, co-owner of Spinfinite Indoor Cycling and Fitness in Spruce Grove, a motor vehicle accident in 2009 didn't just change her trajectory: it launched a passion for helping others reclaim their health and vitality.

"I started in the fitness industry in 2009 after being in a motor vehicle accident," Kaila explains. That personal experience with recovery and rehabilitation sparked what would become a lifelong dedication to fitness. Along with her husband, she's been working with individuals on health and fitness ever since, ultimately opening Spinfinite two years ago.

Today, their all-encompassing fitness studio offers much more than traditional spin classes. "We take whole health into play here," Kaila emphasizes. "If you want to learn how to strength train and lift weights, then we've got you. If you want to just focus on the cardio or you want to build conditioning for an athletic endeavor, we've got you there as well."

The studio combines cardiovascular conditioning on indoor cycling bikes with strength training in their small group studio, creating what Kaila describes as "a holistic approach" that addresses strength, power, speed, and agility. What makes indoor cycling particularly unique, she notes, is that it's "the only cardio that you can do and build muscle at the same time" while remaining low impact.

But perhaps what truly sets Spinfinite apart is its heart. "The biggest thing that makes us stand out is that we care and we have a caring community," Kaila says. "We treat each individual as a unique person, and we celebrate when they show up, and we celebrate successes along the way."

The results speak volumes. Kaila shares stories of clients with heart conditions who no longer need medication, people who were prediabetic who've reversed their condition, and new mothers who've rediscovered their strength. "It's really rewarding hearing how their lives have changed and how their health markers have improved."

📖 Story Corner

The Woman Who Almost Didn't Come Back

The first time she walked into the fitness studio she nearly turned around at the door.

Her hands were shaking. Not from the cold, from fear. Fear of being the slowest. Fear of being judged. Fear of failing at one more thing in a life that had already handed her enough of those.

She had spent three years barely leaving the house after the accident. The doctors had given her a list of things she would probably never do again. She had read that list so many times she had started to believe it.

But something that morning made her push the door open anyway.

She chose the bike at the very back of the room. She kept her head down. She lasted exactly fourteen minutes before she had to stop. She cried in her car on the way home, not from sadness, but from something she had not felt in a very long time.

She felt alive.

She went back the next week. And the week after that. Some days she lasted twenty minutes. Some days she lasted the whole class. Some days she sat in the parking lot for ten minutes before she could make herself go in.

But she always went in.

A year later she completed her first 5K. Her doctor took her off two medications. She stood at the front of the class one Tuesday morning and looked back at a nervous woman standing at the very back — hands shaking, eyes down, choosing the last bike in the row.

She walked over and said just one thing.

"You showed up. That is the bravest thing you will do today. I will be right here."

Some stories do not start with a dramatic moment. They start with a shaking hand on a door handle and a quiet decision to push it open anyway.

Whatever door you have been standing outside of, it is not too late to push it open. 💛
