Happy Friday Edmonton!
Introducing Local Love Fridays 💛
Starting today, every Friday edition of the Urban Brief includes something a little extra.
We are calling it Local Love Fridays, and the idea is simple. Every week we sit down with a local business owner in Edmonton or the surrounding area, someone who is part of this newsletter community, and we let them tell their story in their own words. Not a press release. Not a polished pitch. Just a real conversation with a real person who is building something in this city.
These are your neighbours. Your regulars. The people behind the signs you drive past and the names you see on work trucks in your neighbourhood. They deserve more than a passing mention, and you deserve to know who they are.
If you own or know a local business that belongs in this spotlight, we will be honored to tell your story.
Send your request to [email protected]
Now, meet this week's featured business.💛

Clean Pipes RV | Edmonton
It started around a campfire.
Murray was sitting with friends in their camping community, doing what campers do, talking, laughing, solving the world's problems one story at a time. Somewhere in the conversation, the topic turned to RV waste tanks. Not the most glamorous subject, but anyone who owns an RV knows it is one of the most important ones. Murray had heard about proper hydro-jet tank cleaning being done in the United States. But here in Canada? Nothing. Nobody was offering it, nobody was advertising it, and nobody was really talking about why.
That question did not leave him.
"It's something we'd looked at for the last couple years," Murray says. "Last year we put it into practice as we were at an RV site. We needed to do our own RV, and that's really where it started."
He invested in equipment and offered the service right there in his own camping community. No big marketing plan. No formal launch. Just a quiet offer to people he knew: this is something I think we need, who wants it?
The response was loud and clear. People did not just want it. They had been waiting for it.
Clean Pipes RV was born.
What they do and why it matters
Murray and his team specialize exclusively in RV waste and water system maintenance. The core service is hydro-jet cleaning of black and gray tanks, and Murray is precise about the standard he holds himself to.
"We hydro-jet them to a point of clean where there is no more odor or sensor issues," he says.

Services offered by Clean Pipes RV
If you have ever poured treatment after treatment into a tank that still smells, or stared at a sensor reading that refuses to move no matter what you try, you know exactly what he means. This is the fix that actually works.
But what truly separates Clean Pipes RV from every other RV service in this country is not the equipment. It is how they show up.
"We are the only ones that offer self-contained services," Murray says. "It means that the customer doesn't need to have any utilities. They don't need to supply the water, they don't need to supply the power, they don't need to supply the sewage containment. We supply everything so that when we arrive on site and we leave, the place we're working looks the same as when we arrived."
Read that again. The only ones in Canada. They pull up with everything they need and when they leave, your site is exactly as it was before they arrived. No hookups. No inconvenience. No trace.

They serve individual RV owners, seasonal campers, full-time RVers, campgrounds and dealerships across Edmonton and Central and Southern Alberta. Calgary is on the horizon, but Murray has chosen to do it right rather than do it fast. That says something about the person.
"I think we have potential for enormous growth," he says.
When asked what he wants every customer to walk away feeling, Murray does not hesitate.
"I want their opinion to be positive. I want them to know that their RV was handled by a professional."
The part that says everything about who Murray is
Clean Pipes RV has a dedicated page on their website for STARS Air Ambulance. Not a small logo tucked in the footer. A full page.
A portion of every single service goes directly toward supporting STARS, the helicopter air ambulance that has been saving lives across Alberta since 1985. Murray knows that many of his customers spend their time in the beautiful and remote corners of this province, places where a ground ambulance takes too long and STARS is the difference between life and what comes after it. Supporting them is not a marketing decision for Murray. It is a values decision.
Right now, Clean Pipes RV is running an active STARS 50/50 fundraiser through October 30, 2026, and they are matching customer donations up to $20. If you want to put a few dollars toward something that genuinely saves lives in this province, enter the raffle here or donate through their STARS page.

A campfire conversation. A gap nobody else was filling. A business built on professionalism, community and the quiet belief that Albertans deserve better. That is Clean Pipes RV.
It is camping season, and if your RV tanks need to be cleaned, Murray and the team can be reached at cleanpipesrv.ca, on Facebook, or by phone at 587-982-8848.

It’s also had near-zero correlation with the S&P 500 since ‘95.*
