The Post-Workout Recovery Secret You’re Sleeping On

You’ve dialed in your workouts, nutrition, and hydration. But if progress still feels slow, there’s one recovery factor often overlooked: sleep.

Muscles repair and rebuild while you sleep. Less sleep means less time to recover.

If getting enough rest is a challenge, CBDistillery offers targeted support your sleep solutions.

Their gummies and tinctures combine non-intoxicating CBD with CBN, a cannabinoid commonly used to promote better sleep.

In a 2021 CBDistillery study, participants reported sleeping longer on average after using CBD and CBN together.

Good morning, Edmonton, Happy Tuesday! 🎉

It is a wet one out there today, friends. Grab a warm mug and settle in because we have a packed Tuesday. Rain is doing its thing through the morning and council is doing its thing across the table downtown, so there is no shortage of things to talk about over coffee. Let's get into it.💛

Alberta Gas Tax Decision Coming This Week

Premier Smith is expected to announce as soon as this week whether Albertans will get relief at the pump after the provincial fuel tax monitoring window closed on Sunday.

  • WTI averaged between $80 and $104 per barrel during the window, which triggers at least partial relief under the province's formula. Full relief kicks in above $90 per barrel.

  • Edmonton gas is sitting at $1.53 per litre right now, down from a $1.89 peak in May. Any provincial change would take effect July 1.

Stay tuned because this one lands any day now.

Edmonton's Community Halls Are in a $100M Crisis

Edmonton's community league halls are quietly falling apart and a new city report puts the cost of fixing them at $100 million over the next decade.

  • The most urgent repairs sit at $19M and involve real safety concerns. The City and the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues are now designing a new funding framework together.

  • This is about the 150 plus halls where Edmontonians hold birthday parties, skating lessons, volunteer nights and neighbourhood gatherings. The bones of community life.

Council is expected to dig into this as part of the current agenda this week.

Council Votes Today on Nearly $1M for Winter Day Spaces

Today is the day. Edmonton city council is voting on close to $1 million to extend winter day spaces for vulnerable Edmontonians after a one-time pilot last season served 6,600 people with 38,000 visits.

  • The pilot ran at four sites and gave people a warm, safe place to land during the cold months. Advocates are calling this a no-brainer given the numbers.

  • The vote happens today, June 16. We will be watching.

Twelve children were injured Monday morning at Cultus Lake Waterpark in BC while there on a school field trip. Two were airlifted to hospital.

  • BC Emergency Health Services responded at 11:17 am with multiple ambulances, two air ambulances with critical care paramedics and a supervisor. All 12 patients received treatment on scene or in transport.

  • RCMP arrived at 11:20 am and the investigation is underway. The cause of the electrical incident has not been officially confirmed.

Canada and Allies Welcome Iran Peace Deal as G7 Opens in France

The G7 summit opened in Évian-les-Bains, France on Monday with the Iran peace deal announced by Trump over the weekend as the first item on everyone's mind.

  • Prime Minister Carney arrived Monday and signed a joint statement with the UK, France, Germany and Italy welcoming the deal and committing to support Strait of Hormuz shipping restoration. The Strait would reopen officially when the deal is signed Friday.

  • Alberta's gas prices are already responding. AI regulation, online safety for children and Ukraine are also on the agenda. Whether Carney and Trump will meet in Évian has not been confirmed.

Carney called the Iran progress "topic number 1" and said Canada "very much welcomes" the momentum.

TRIVIA TUESDAY 🧠

Edmonton was the first city in Canada to open a light rail transit system. The original LRT line launched on April 22, 1978, connecting downtown to Belvedere. Every Canadian city that built LRT after that was following Edmonton's lead.
