The New Trick to Reducing Stress Without Losing Focus

Burnout and stress can make it hard to focus and keep up at work. That pressure builds, creating a cycle that’s tough to break.

If you’re looking for a way to ease workplace stress without feeling drowsy, try CBDistillery’s Daytime Calm gummies.

Each serving contains 50mg of CBG, a non-intoxicating compound derived from hemp, formulated to support calm and daytime focus.

In a 2022 CBDistillery study, CBG was associated with:

  • Increased focus and mental clarity

  • Reduced mild, temporary anxiety

Like all CBDistillery products, Daytime Calm gummies are third-party lab tested for quality and consistency.

Good morning, Edmonton, Happy Monday! 🎉

The week is off to a big start and I am so glad you are here with me. Last night the Stanley Cup found a new home and the oil market woke up to some pretty dramatic numbers after the weekend's big deal out of the Middle East. We have got all of that and more for you this morning. It is actually a beautiful Monday out there today so I hope you get a chance to enjoy it.💛

What the People Who Actually Signed the Petitions Think About October 19

Not everyone who put their name on a separation petition is still sure how they will vote.

  • The Canadian Press talked to Albertans from Edmonton, Calgary, Spruce Grove and Red Deer who signed both the Forever Canada and Stay Free Alberta petitions. The views ranged from firm believers in independence to people who signed and now want the whole referendum scrapped entirely.

  • One Spruce Grove woman, a regional lead for the Forever Canada campaign, said the debate is driving a wedge through families and called the referendum "a waste of taxpayer money." A Red Deer woman on the separatist side said Smith is stalling and the UCP base wants more.

The October 19 vote is 126 days away. Now you know some of the people behind those lawn signs.

♿ 79,000 Albertans Are 16 Days Away From a Big Change to Their Disability Benefits

Starting July 1 the province replaces AISH with the new Alberta Disability Assistance Program, and advocates say the numbers are alarming.

  • Most of the 79,000 current AISH recipients will move to ADAP, which tops out at $1,740 a month instead of the current $1,940. That $200 gap is a full month of groceries for many recipients living on the edge.

  • The transition benefit holds payments steady until the end of 2027, but reassessment requirements are causing fear among people with episodic and invisible disabilities who worry they will be deemed employable and lose the higher benefit permanently.

What happens next is still unfolding. Read the details before July arrives.

Carolina Hurricanes Win the 2026 Stanley Cup

It ended last night in Las Vegas and it was not close.

  • Carolina shut out the Vegas Golden Knights 3-0 in Game 6 to claim the Stanley Cup. Jordan Staal won the Conn Smythe as the playoff's most valuable player, capping a remarkable postseason run.

  • Taylor Hall lifted the Cup on T-Mobile Arena ice in front of a stunned Vegas crowd. The Hurricanes finished the job with their trademark defensive brand of hockey.

For Oilers fans, the offseason is now officially underway. For hockey fans everywhere, it was a great final to watch.

The Post-Workout Recovery Secret You’re Sleeping On

Your muscles rebuild when you’re sleeping, and not getting enough sleep can affect your post-workout recovery. CBDistillery’s sleep products are formulated to support your sleep naturally; in a 2021 study, participants reported sleeping an hour longer on average after taking CBDistillery’s combination of CBD and CBN. The FIFA World Cup Came to America. A Somali Referee Never Made It Through the Door.

Omar Abdulkadir Artan was set to make history. He ended up in an airport detention room instead.

  • The 34-year-old CAF Male Referee of the Year was detained for 11 hours at Miami International Airport after arriving from Istanbul on June 7. Customs and Border Protection cited "vetting concerns" and sent him home to Somalia despite a valid US visa and diplomatic passport. US officials later suggested suspected ties to al-Shabab, which Artan and Somali officials strongly deny.

  • He would have been the first Somali referee ever to officiate at a World Cup. When he landed in Mogadishu, thousands packed a stadium to welcome him home as a hero.

FIFA said host country immigration decisions are not theirs to make. The World Cup continues without him.

⛽ Oil Just Fell Off a Cliff. That Has Direct Implications for Alberta

The weekend deal between the US and Iran sent oil markets tumbling this morning.

  • Brent crude dropped to around $83 a barrel after the Strait of Hormuz deal was signed Sunday. That is down from highs above $110 just a couple of months ago, a decline of more than 20 percent.

  • Alberta royalty revenues track directly with Brent prices. Energy economists are watching closely to see whether this is a lasting drop or a brief reaction as markets process a deal that still has to be implemented on the ground.

The Strait of Hormuz has been partially blocked since February. This is the first morning it reopens.
